Your secret weapon for
winning during an interview is the most natural way to connect with another
human being. (Smile) If you never smile during your interview
you won't have a chance. There is no need to plant a permanent grin on your
face but just a few genuine smiles
will take you a long way. It makes the interviewer and you more relaxed and comfortable during
the entire process. Here are a few more tips that will help you have a great
interview.
· When you greet the interviewer be
the first to initiate a
professional handshake. No,
this is not outdated etiquette. It still leaves the interviewer with a good
impression of you.
· During the interview remain focused. This is important because you do not want to appear
uninterested in what the interviewer is saying.
·
Do not be intimidated if the interviewer takes notes. If
they have several interviews scheduled, it can be difficult for them to
remember all of the specifics about each candidate. The notes help them to
recall.
· Of course it is rude to stare however
you should always make eye contact
with the interviewer.
· Always, always arrive early for the interview. At least 10 -15 minutes and be
prepared to complete a standard application if you have only submitted
a resume.
· Plan and prepare your questions the night before
the interview. This will prevent
you from forgetting important facts you want to know about the company and you
can avoid having that blank look on your face when the interviewer asks,
"Do you have any questions?"
·
Consider some of the questions the interviewer may ask you and plan
your answers in advance.
· Carry
an extra copy of your resume, just in case.
· Keep it professional! Never crack jokes or get personal with the interviewer.
· Follow the interviewers lead. If
they begin with a bit of small talk respond with the same. They are attempting
to make you feel more relaxed.
·
Always thank the interviewer for their time and let them know you look forward to hearing from them soon.
Don't Forget to Smile!
